Kid Koala - 12 Bit Blues //

Why does the Chinese-Canadian DJ wear a fury, full-body koala suit? Because Eric San (aka Kid Koala) is a man of his word.

Kid Koala explained to his London crowd last night that the koala suit was the result of a lost bet. Expect the outfit to make 100 gig appearances.

So. Here is what you need to do:

1. Get a taste of his 12 bit blues over at Ninja Tune

2. Catch him performing all his wonderful bluesy bits on his latest Vinyl Vaudeville Tour.

3. Buy the album and make your own hand-spun tunes:

[Gotcha Covered] - Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac //

Just tell me that you want me: A tribute to Fleetwood Mac is Gotcha Covered GOLD.

Spanning their 45 year influential musical legacy, this 17-track collection features a moody, stripped-down rendition of their 1977 hit “Dreams” by The Kills, a 9 minute futuristic journey of “Future Games” by MGMT, and a daring contribution by Lee Renaldo featuring J Mascis of my all-time favourite instrumental “Albatross.”

Available in US stores August 14th 2010. More info: http://justtellmethatyouwantme.com/

[New Solo EP] Flea (from RHCP) - Helen Burns //

rchp image

No chili peppers here…

It is a mostly instrumental, weird and arty record, the music is mostly just me creating soundscapes that are very emotional for me, but certainly not for everyone! Just me tripping out at home. I am putting it out to raise money for The Silverlake Conservatory of Music a community based non profit music school that I am an integral part of.

 - Flea

A digital download of the EP is available NOW at Silverlake Conservatory on a “name your own price” basis - proceeds going to charity.

Track list as follows:

HELEN BURNS
1. 333
2. Pedestal Of Infamy
3. A Little Bit Of Sanity
4. Helen Burns (co-written with Patti Smith)
5. 333 Revisited
6. Lovelovelove

Do a good deed. Get some good tunes. Share your thoughts.

Dr. John - Locked Down //

Yes, that is Dan Auerbach in the video teaser above. Yes, he did produce the new Dr. John masterpiece. A legendary match made in rock heaven.

Half a century on and the Night Tripper has reembodied his ‘50’s boogie-woogie-bluesy-voodoo-rock that put him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Listen to the single ‘Revolution’ below and you’ll be hooked.

Buy it now, buy it proud.
