Young The Giant - I Got //

If you like Local Natives or Kings of Leon then you’re sure to love Young The Giant. Although this group hailing from SoCal is composed of very youthful members, ages 20-22 their arrangements and memorable choruses will make you think otherwise.

They are favorite of local college radio stations and I’m sure that while on a national tour with Marina and The Diamonds their popularity will spread, making them everyone’s new favorite indie band.  They are undoubtedly a group to watch this year.

The video above “I Got” is also one of my favorite tracks off their self titled album, dropping at the end of this October.  Another favorite includes, “My Body” which you can see a live recording of below as well as download on their site for FREE.

Local Natives debut album dropped November 2nd in Britain.  Interestingly enough they hail from SoCal, but you can’t get their album here in the states yet you will have to pay in pounds.  I was actually introduced to them well reading one of my favorite music blogs, Monkton vs Plankton and I immediately fell in love with them.  I’ve been playing their album non-stop all through November.
Its hard to believe that this band has only been playing together for such a short time.  The five piece bands instrumental layers are orchestrated to near perfection. If I had to compare them to another act I would liken them to Fleet of Foxes or Broken Social Scene.  However, the vocal arrangements suggest Grizzly Bear. Its impossible to pick a favorite track but some of my favorites are “Sun Hands,” “Warning Sign” and “Camera Talk.” You can listen and decide for yourself. Regardless, they have done a brilliant job with their freshmen album and I think they will make a BIG splash this year.
You can purchase their album at Rough Trade Shops
