“So, yeah, given that the world is either swallowing up whole countries, the ice caps are melting, Dane Cook is still alive and the NFL is probably not going to play next year I thought it might be “fun” to do a “soundtrack to the apocalypse.” I have to admit I stumbled across this article, and it got me thinking. Basically I didn’t like any of the suggested sound tracks cause when the world really goes for realz I think I’m going to be listening to OFWGKTA or Mastodon or something egregiously aggressive like those.
Anyways, just a thought. I’ve always been a big apocalypse guy - can’t wait for the real thing!”
And typically, bag of dick humor ensues in our email chains here at MV…
Here’s the track listing for your viewing pleasure:
Steel Panther - Death To All But Metal Black Sabbath - Iron Man The Black Keys - Strange Times The Vapors - Turning Japanese (too soon?) The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - I Will Survive Rammstein - Du Haust Rage Against The Machine - Bulls on Parade Crystal Method and Filter - Can’t You Trip LIke I Do NIN - Survivalism Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People Hole - Violet The Rooster - Alice In Chains Seabeast - Mastodon We’re All Gonna Die - Slash (seriously) Kill The Poor - Dead Kennedys Politicians In My Eyes - Death The Last Thing I Want To Do Before The Apocalypse Is Suck A Bag of Dicks - Jessica Page(wasn’t lying)
It looks like British Rock-Diva (and my personal hipster-muse) Florence Welch and her Machine are about to head back to the studio. There’s been talk of this for a while but it looks like they’ve written the songs and are ready to start recording. Am I jealous that they are going to be renting out Abbey Road? Yes - but it’s cool as long as they put out another awesome album. Can’t wait.
We know some of you have a love/hate relationship with V-day. Don’t worry, MV has got you covered no matter which side of the fence you sit on…
This Valentines Day we’ve put together a playlist of our favourite love songs, alongside our selection of anti-vday classics.
If all you need is love, well then, what you want, baby we’ve got it:
You won’t find any Celine Dion here. You will, however, find the likes Lee Fields, Little Birdy, Beach House, Bloc Party, Betty Davis, and even a little baby-making Ghostface Killah.

The new DR mixtape, Sit Down, Man, dropped today. Go get it cause it’s awesome.
They’ve got a cast of characters producing tracks with my favorites coming from Dash Speaks and Keepaway (posted). I’m expecting a deluge of ridiculous videos in the near future.
Hello to all and apologies for being less than present during the summer. I’ve switched coasts and will now be keeping you all apprised of the dankness occurring in the Bay Area of Kuhlifawnia. The Governator and I hope you all had a fantastic summer and we’re excited to share a few albums with you.
So without further ado….
Bun B - Trill OG: This is the third and final installment in the Bun’s “Trill” series and has by far the most star power with Drake, Gucci Mane, T-Pain (personally hate T-Pain) and Young Jeezy joining in the fun. The album also features tracks produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and Boy-1nda (of Drake sidekick fame). If you wanna be a gangster in the summertime (or fall) then look no further.
The Budos Band - III: There’s just no stopping the Daptone label, The Budos, The Sharon Jones, The Lee Fields or the Menahen St Band but I haven’t been able to stop listening to this since it came out. Typical great groove, not a throwback/hokey kind of funk but their own thing. Budos delivers a third time.
Rick Ross - Teflon Don: Don’t care at all that his whole persona is a fake. I love The Bawse and I love Bear Grylls. Best rapper name not yet used: Bare Grillz.
Ratatat - LP4: Another long time favorite of mine, Ratatat made my summer with LP4. As you can see, I’m a simple man but this band continues to put out great stuff and deserve a mention here.
Hope you all had a great summer and don’t forget to vote “Yes!!!!!” on Prop 19.
