While reading another awesome Tumblr blog, Ghost FM I came across some easy breezy pop that could really only come from one place, San Francisco.
Adios Amigo released their self titled five track EP this past August which you can stream in full from their bandcamp page. Their sound is mellow, yet full of joy. The SF Chronicle describes them perfectly when they say, “Adios Amigo’s music is like taking a happy pill; their pop melodies are like a loving hug.” So prepare your self for a bear hug size serving of indie pop bliss!
LA based “gentle electro” band Blue Green Gray made it out to NYC a month back under the name Sweet Lowdown, packing the Silent Barn with a throng of west coast transplants and east side friends alike. Their sound tried its best to squeeze through the tiny PA, but you could tell the raspy voice of frontwoman Shana Bush was just itching for a bigger bed to lie in. Their new EP, like their new name, is wet, wavy, and just what I needed on these in-between spring days. If I ever open a lounge in orbit, I have a feeling this might be just what my astropatrons want to hear.
You can download the whole EP straight from SoundCloud, or start out with their banger “Aware of IT” right here.
Just when I thought I didn’t want to listen to anymore Dream Pop my world was turned upsidedown by SASKATCHEWAN, a self described Dream Pop band hailing from Orlando, Florida. They are as advertised, very dreamy, very poppy and also very titillating to the ear drums.
I’m curious why they named them selves that. After all, isn’t Saskatchewan a Canadian Provence? So not visualizing Florida right there, but I’m sure that wasn’t what they were after. Anyways, whats really in a name? Good music is good music. And this is better then good.
They wrote to me yesterday and said, “If our music vibes with you we’d greatly appreciate any form of mention.” Well boys, I’m vibing and mentioning thanks for the inspiration. Take a listen to their two track EP, Nice Daze below.

It’s one of those albums that you put on in your car, and before you know it, it’s at a decibel level that could wake Helen Keller from the grave and you’re banging the steering wheel like you actually know how to play an instrument.
Personal favourites are Colorblind and State Of I. Zeppelin-esque riffs and Sabbath-inspired transitions are dispersed throughout. Equal parts “heavy” and “daze”. It’s a reincarnate of classic stoner rock meets the “illegitimate love-child of fire breathing dragon and warm-hearted confused teenager” - Brother Jake.
It’s deliciously raw. But who would expect anything less from a band that inspired a pizza topping?
For a little taste of this musical food pyramid, check out the first episode in the 17 part series (above) - “PBL: Night in Venice on the Wrong Side of Bay Avenue” - a concert film featuring rock and/or roll by Peanut Butter Lovesicle from the Summer of 2009.
And stay tuned for upcoming gigs and exclusive releases from their recent LA recording sessions.
