10 for 2010: #10 Keepaway

We’ve talked about Keepaway before, but I don’t think our 10 to watch in 2010 series would be complete without them.  And I’m not just saying that because they’re our friends.  In many ways, Keepaway, with their guitar, drums and synth combo, are typical of the Brooklyn Electronic/Indie scene.

But after seeing them live at Piano’s last Sunday night, I feel that they are much more than typical.  In a small venue, with limited resources, they were able to take the sound of their studio tracks to an even fuller level.  Above is a clip of their single “Yellow Wings” that our friend Anthony took on his iPhone.  It’s just the intro and the sound’s not great, but you can feel the energy they produce.  Keepaway’s next show is the Saturday before the Super Bowl and Brooklyn Bowl as part of the Sounds Like Brooklyn festival.  See you there.
