NEW EP: Clownfacee - Winter //
This afternoon I received an email from Michael Quigley aka Clownfacee giving me the heads up on his new EP, Winter. Coincidentally, while battling a rough bout of insomnia last night I came across this very EP and downloaded it. Because I am not a believer in coincidences I bumped this EP up on my listening list and rightfully so. I’m on my tenth plus listen and it just keeps getting better and better. I want to say it’s my new headphones, but I think Mike is on to something here.
At Winter’s most experimental peaks it reminds me of Mutual Benefit’s track “Piano Experiments in an Abandoned Hospital” but with much heavier electronic overtones. The voice distortion on the track, “Trees” is reminiscent of Radiohead’s Kid A. While other tracks like, “Feel it More” and “Annabelle” show his folk influences. One would think that blending all these influences together would make for a mess of an album with no direction or cohesiveness, but Clownfacee proves this to be untrue. What he has created is truly unique and imaginative.
Have a listen to the full EP below and then go download it for FREE on the Clownfacee bandcamp page here.
